Barbara dropped the extra 'a' from her name in 1960 when she began her acting career. “I always hated it,” Barbra said in 1963, “but I did not want to drop it, so I changed it slightly from Barbara to Barbra.” She told Barbara Walters in 1985, “I didn't want to change my name .... but I couldn't live with a false name.
