Akuyami Village was a very splendid village. It was quite famous for it's very vast gardens. The most famous garden was the Garden of Tulips. The village was lead by it's chief named, Kaeda Akiko. She tended to the village's gardens every single day, making sure the plants were well taken care of.

However, little did the villagers know about the chaos that awaited them.

One day, a little boy playing with his wooden doll, which he named Tokito, went missing from his father. His father and the villagers was searching for him all over the village. Until his father remembered that his little boy had a favorite garden. The famous Garden of Tulips. The boy's father searched around the tall grass and tulips, until he found the little boy's treasured wooden doll, Tokito.

The villagers then went on a search for Kaeda, for they blamed her as the reason the boy disappeared. They searched and searched for the tall woman in all black. They couldn't find Kaeda anywhere. Suddenly, they heard a laugh from up above.

They all looked up to see Kaeda smiling down upon them, laughing in mockery, "You all agreed to stay and live in this village, did you not? You even said that you'd remain here no matter what happens. And yet... you're wanting to blame me for something that happened in your own hand. You see, would that little boy have gotten.. lost, if his family paid attention to him? He wouldn't have. However, his parents proved just how selfish humans can be. It really is a shame. You all don't realize your mistakes, so you blame someone above you. A real pity."

Kaeda smiled at the villagers as they fell, coughing. The last thing they saw was Kaeda before their vision turned black. For what they once knew Kaeda to be, was simply a mimic of their old village chief. The once splendid Village of Akuyami, crumbled into the hands of Kintoru.

Yasu's Journey

Current

Yasu finds himself at a village right after escaping the horrific hospital. Unfortunately for him, his flashlight dies, so he is forced to use a lantern he found on the ground. When he walks forward, a figure pops out of thin air and exclaims that Yasu cannot escape her world. He finds himself in three pathways ahead of him and he decides to take the one with the butterfly spirits and it leads him to the map of the village maze. After memorizing the map, he goes back to the pathways and chooses the path on the right this time. Yasu goes to one of the gardens and luckily enough, he finds the butterfly in the middle. He goes into safe houses to hide from the figure that tries to hunt him down, although some jumpscares surprise him off when he enters some of the safe houses. He eventually finds a glowing door and opens it with the butterfly he still has.

He walks towards freedom and sees the samurai once again, looking down at Yasu and stating that he would never escape the curse of the witch before disappearing out of Yasu's sight.

Yasu is now in a maze after escaping the hospital. His flashlight dies, so he sticks with a lantern. When he goes ahead, a voice says that they finally meet as a figure quickly elapses by in front of him. Discombobulated, he asks if they were the voice then who was the lady in the white dress. The voice does not give an answer back. Yasu proceeds ahead and finds some spirits. He uses them as a guide and stumbles upon a map of the village. With the help of the map, he soon finds a butterfly spirit in one of the gardens which he could use. He then hides in the safe houses from the figure hunting him down. At the end, he was able to find the exit and used the spirit to let him escape.

He walks down the hallway and sees the Samurai once again, emerging out from underwater and tells the young boy that he will never escape the curse of The Witch before going down to the ocean below.

Trivia

  • The word "Akuyami" (悪闇) roughly means "evil".
  • Some parts of the maze, mostly terrain, makes Kintoru stuck and she needs to either chase a player to quickly get out of her frozen state or try to break out of there by herself.
  • In the revamp, this actually became the last maze as it is now called Final Maze, due to the lack of mazes after this chapter caused by the removal of the Skull Labyrinth in Chapter III.
