Control's Book/Chapter II (2024)

Control's Book: Chapter II is the second chapter of Control's Book in The Mimic.

In this chapter, Yasu is focused on trying to figure out what is happening to him and who is responsible for the disappearances of his friends. While trying to figure his situation out, he communicates with the voice in his head.

Chapter II released Febuary 28th, 2021, close to a month of the release of the game. The revamp has changed everything, since its release in July 5th, 2022. For those who are wondering when Nightmare II was released, it is estimated that it was on May 2021, along with Nightmare I.

Storyline

The Imperial Palace

Chapter Ⅱ starts outside of the Imperial Palace, which Yasu has to walk inside in order to continue his journey. Entering the area, he notices a large dimly lit library full of bookshelves with a staircase up ahead. He is also greeted with a maiden whose neck could stretch with force, walking back and forth to the doors on both sides, serving as an obstacle. After avoiding her, Yasu goes up the staircase and takes a right. Yasu gets the key to open the right door downstairs and pulls the lever. The lever opens the closed door upstairs which takes Yasu to a hallway. While going down the hallway a mysterious voice speaks to Yasu referring to Yasu‘s friends. Going outside Yasu has to walk on planks leading to little floating islands which leads to another level where a huge samurai, Kusonoki Masashige, wanders around.

The columns in the area are used to go around him and past the doors. To get the first spirit butterfly, Yasu goes and takes the left door. While going down the corridor to get the second spirit butterfly there are noises of banging doors, and a note written by Yasu's friend is next to the door. Yasu hears the noises and goes straight, quickly finding the other spirit butterfly. While getting the second butterfly spirit a voice from the door says 'help me' which is a trick. Going back and taking a right to where the door is to use the butterfly, two large hands pop out and try to grab Yasu.

The Realm Of the Forgotten

After Yasu enters the white glowing door, he teleports to a grassy place. He later on sees the same samurai but bigger passing through the bridge. After that, he finds a butterfly and uses it to open a door. Inside the door are stairs that lead left or right, Yasu then takes a right. The place seems to be mimicking places Yasu has been into since the place terraformed into his school and the hotel. Later on, a voice tells him that everything has been a mimic of his reality.

The Hospital

He then enters an abandoned hospital in which he has to find a key to open a door. Yasu gets the key while a conscious-looking doll roams the maze. Yasu manages to get the key without being slain by the doll. Yasu uses it to open a door in which the door leads to another labyrinth. Yasu needs to get a blue butterfly spirit in order to open a green glowing door. Yasu then gets the butterfly spirit while the same doll roams the maze once again, looking fatter. Yasu uses that butterfly spirit to open the green glowing door.

Akuyami Village

After Yasu enters the green glowing door, he is teleported to an abandoned village in which the voice in his head makes its first appearance. She speaks to him personally, "You still don't get it? You can't escape my world." Yasu enters her maze and has to be cautious since the voice of his head, Kintoru, roams the place. If she sees Yasu, she will chase him until she's able to catch him. Yasu can only outrun her for a short amount of time as her speed is very fast. Yasu has to find a butterfly spirit somewhere in the three of the gardens in order to open another glowing door. After Yasu finds the spirit, he finds his way to the exit. He uses the butterfly spirit to open the glowing door. The glowing door leads him to a grassy place in which the same samurai that appeared in The Realm of the Forgotten makes another appearance. The samurai tells him, "You will never escape the curse of the witch."

Trivia

• Chapter II is the second chapter to release in 2021.
  • It is also the second chapter to ever be released in The Mimic.
• Chapter II originally did not have any stamina for Yasu to evade the monsters.
• Megumi's original jumpscare was very loud and was later reduced to a much lower volume after an update.
• If Yasu chooses to open the door in which the 'help me' voice is coming from, he will be fooled and instead die while Megumi's jumpscare plays.
• In the remastered version a jumpscare of Megumi is shown while on the planks to the islands, and a quick jumpscare of Shaku before entering the hospital maze.
  • In the revamped version of Chapter II, Shaku now has another jumpscare, this time before going to the flooded maze.
• In the remastered version, the hospital was upgraded by having rusted walls and tiles to give it more of an abandoned look.
• In the first two parts of Chapter Ⅱ, Yasu isn't able to sprint.
  • Yasu will get a temporary speed boost while trying to escape Kusonoki.
• It was confirmed that Megumi was the one who wrote the notes in The Imperial Palace, but in the old lore, Hiachi was the one to write them.
• Chapter II is the first chapter where you get to see Kintoru physically.
• Chapter II is the first chapter to have a hostile enemy roaming in different mazes in one part, which is Shaku.
