Glenn Villeneuve From Life Below Zero: Everything We Know (2024)

Living a life hunting while residing in the mountains and dense forests of Alaska may sound idyllic but once the temperature drops way below zero, even the act of breathing becomes a challenge. In 2013, “Life Below Zero” showcased such a life led by Glenn Villeneuve and six of his cast members: Sue Aikens, Andy Bassich, Jassie Holmes, Erik Salitan, Chip Hailstone, and Agnes Hailstone. Passion to remain close to nature keeps Glenn under life-threatening and severe winter conditions and his wife, Trisha with their four children share the same enthusiasm. Glenn has faced innumerable challenges in making such a life choice and had near-death experiences like fighting and escaping a pack of wolves. It is only natural to want to dig deeper into the life of a man so fascinating!

Glenn Villeneuve: Age and Where is He From?

Born on March 18, 1969, Glenn Villeneuve was raised in Burlington, Vermont. He spent his childhood close to nature and always had a zeal to explore the wild regions around his home. This tendency greatly affected his academic life and he hardly attained any professional education. Hardly anything has been revealed about his family except for the fact that he has a brother named Neil Villeneuve. He indulged in a subsistence lifestyle at an early age and became a public figure at the age of 35 when he turned into a survivalist cast on the hit show “Life Below Zero”.

Glenn Villeneuve: Wife and Kids

Glenn met his first wife, a German Opera singer, Silvia Daeumichen, in the ’90s and they got married in 2001. Always an explorer of wilderness at heart, Glenn moved to Alaska with his then-wife. The couple had two kids from the wedlock: Willow Leaves on May 9, 2006, and, Wolf Song on June 14, 2009. 10 years passed when they decided to call it quits. The two got divorced in 2013 and went their separate ways in life. The decision was mutual and has not been disclosed publicly. Their children stayed with the mother until 2018 and now live with Glenn at Fairbanks.

The wanderer found love again in Trisha Kazan and connected with her over Facebook at the time she was living in Massachusetts. After three months of online dating, they met at Glenn’s hometown for the time and did not think it twice to take it to the next level only months later. In November 2014, Trisha took her daughter, Amelia, from her first marriage and moved in with him. After three years of marriage, they welcomed their first daughter, Agatha, on June 22, 2017.

Glenn Villeneuve: Life Below Zero Journey

Glenn was a hunter, fisherman, survivalist, and an explorer before he appeared on the multiple Emmy-winning documentary series by BBC Worldwide. It aired on National Geographic on May 19, 2013, and was an instant hit. The show turned him into a Television personality by exhibiting his sheer physical endurance to survive hailstorms, bear attacks, and resource deficiencies – to name a few. It did not intend to glorify the lethal repercussions of living a life of the wilderness. Instead, it put forward the harsh realities of such a choice in front of its viewers.

During the filming of BBC’s hit Television series, the family spent half the year at their cabin home in the Brooks Range by Chandalar Lake. His hunt includes moose, caribou, grizzly bear, and sheep. Interestingly, he has never had a hunting dog in his life and only keeps a Ruger M77 MKII rifle for his protection. After appearing in more than 80 episodes of the show, Glenn became a national hero and people began to idolize him for his courage and simple ways of life.

Where is Glenn Villeneuve Now?

Glenn continues to live as a hunter and a gatherer at Fairbanks and the Brooks Range in Alaska. He recently experimented on his body with a challenge he calls “ONE-MEAL-A-DAY” in which he consumed one wholesome meal and went without food or snacks for the rest of the day. He took on this task to lose some extra pounds and included a 10 kilometers walk to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Since his life as a reality TV star concluded in 2019, he also spends some time with his wife at Fabriansk, an urban town in Alaska to take care of some business affairs.
