About the School Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law

The Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law is committed to providing graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to aid society through the competent and ethical practice of law.

Valuable clinical and externship opportunities provide dynamic practical experience, and our accomplished, championship-caliber trial and moot court teams showcase the real-world legal skills developed at Barry Law.

With the 2011 completion of a three-story Legal Advocacy Center, the law school's 20-acre campus in Orlando is transforming into a state-of-the-art complex that is the focal point for legal resources, services, and knowledge in Central Florida.

Campus and Community About Orlando

Orlando offers a subtropical climate that allows for year-round outdoor activities. Barry University School of Law is located in one of the nation's most vibrant legal and business communities. Central Florida is home to a plethora of law firms, as well as major corporate entities that have headquarters or satellite offices in the Metropolitan Orlando area.

Central Florida is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Although this region was once the center of the Florida citrus industry, its major industry today is tourism. Walt Disney World, Sea World of Florida, Universal Studios - Florida, and a host of other attractions bring millions of visitors into Central Florida each year. Just an hour away are Kennedy Space Center and the beaches of the Atlantic.

In addition, Orlando is a major commercial center; many national corporations have headquarters in the city.

With two major film studios, the area is fast becoming a television and motion picture production center.

  • Each year Barry University School of Law participates in several Career Fairs throughout the country. These Career Fairs include: Southeastern Minority Job Fair (SEMJF) in Atlanta, GA; Equal Justice Works in Washington, BC; Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair in New York City, NY; and Chicago Loyola Intellectual Property Career Fair in Chicago, IL.

  • We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, examples include:

    • Practice Interviews - come to campus for an hour and participate in practice interviewing 3-4 students in 15 to 20 minute sessions in order to prepare the students for interviews.
    • Coffee Chat - Coffee Chat is a program in which we provide the coffee, pastries, and 5-7 students for a more personal discussion about what your experience practicing law is like in our community.
    • Participate in a Community Service Project - the Career Services Office volunteers monthly at different organizations within the Central Florida community. Come be a part of making a difference! Past opportunities include: Creating habitats at the Central Florida Zoo, Serving Breakfast at Give Kids the World, Volunteering at the Celebration Marathon, Stocking the Shelves at Second Harvest Food Bank and more!
    • Participate as a Speaker for one of our Student Organizations - Our Student Organizations are always looking for local attorneys to come on campus and speak about a variety of topics that fit with their organization’s mission. The mission of Barry University Law Library is to provide the Barry community with a pleasant environment conducive to study, research and the continuation of the educational process.
